Extension of USDA Free Meal Program

January 12, 2021

Dear DeLand-Weldon CUSD 57 Families,

On behalf of DeLand-Weldon CUSD 57 Nutrition Services, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome your student(s) to the 2021 New Year!

While this is a most unique start to the year, we wanted to share some great news that will affect all students:  On August 31, 2020, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service announced program changes that will provide for free meals for all students, regardless of income.  This has been made possible by nationwide waivers that provide for free meals to all students until further notice.

Your students may enjoy breakfast and lunch at no charge, whether they dine on campus or pick-up grab & go meals. All meals will include an entrée, fruit/vegetable, and a milk. Students dining on campus may elect to purchase additional entrees or sides at normal pricing.  If your student is dining on campus, they may have breakfast in the classroom and/or order lunch with us first hour. For virtual students, you may sign up with your student’s office and pick up each Monday at the school.

However, your student dines with us, rest assured that we will be serving delicious, nutritious meals prepared with the utmost attention to safety.  We encourage every student to fuel-up with free meals for the remainder of the school year.

Check out our daily menus on https://www.dwschools.org/ homepage.

If you’d like more information, please call our office 309-928-7691 or email us at smith-molly@aramark.com or check the district website for the latest information.
